Description

A worsted weight poncho in 3 sizes with 10 word charts.

I love a good poncho. Worn over the top of other clothing, it’s an excellent layering piece, and allows for the knitter to wear bulky or fine weight items
underneath. I realize that ponchos have received a bad rap from the highly colored and chevroned images of the 70s flower power movement, but with this new design, I hope to allow a knitter to really show off their love of knitting. This would be perfect for an outdoor knitting festival in the early spring or fall as well as a great blanket for covering up while you knit away the winter cold in your pajamas. The turtleneck is optional, so feel free to use your personal preference.

FINISHEDMEASUREMENTS:23.75” in length (folded collar) x 69 (79, 79)” circumference at hem / 60.5 x 175.25 (200.5, 200.5) cm Suggested to be worn with several inches of positive ease.
YARN: Worsted weight (100% Wool; 245 yds/224 m; 3.5 oz/100g per skein) 7 skeins in various colors
NEEDLE: US size 7 (4.5 mm) 16-inch (41cm) and 24 or 32-inch (61 or 81cm) circular needles, OR size needed to obtain gauge.

GAUGE: 20 sts and 26 rnds = 4”/10cm (5 sts and 6.5 rnds = 1”/2.5cm) in Stockinette stitch colorwork
NOTIONS: Stitch marker, tapestry needle.

SAMPLES
Both samples were knit using Brown Sheep Nature Spun Worsted (100% wool; 245 yds/224 m; 3.5 oz/100g per skein). The lighter sample used 1 skein each of 403W Tropical Surf, 158W Fanciful Blue, N78W Turquoise Wonder, 303W Sea Spray, N21W Mallard, 135W Hurricane Seas, and 103W Deep
Sea. The total of all colors combined was 1,130 yds/490g.
The darker sample used 1 skein each of 115W Bit of Blue, 116W Blue Boy, 120W Cresting Waves, 137W Cobalt Blue, 153W Fanciful Blue, 505W
Blue Marina, and N36W China Blue. The total of all colors combined was 1,406 yds/574g.
